New Build for Cornell Information Science Building

Construction is underway for a new science budling at Cornell University.

The new 135,000-square-foot building for the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Cornell Bowers CIS) is to be a collaborative hub for computer science, information science, data science, and statistics.

The four-story structure will feature two wings containing academic research offices and computational labs along with collaborative spaces on three upper floors, and a student “ramble” with a courtyard, a café, an interactive classroom, a commons, large builder labs, and a maker space on the ground floor.

Sustainability endeavors for the project will be in compliance with the Ithaca Energy Code Supplement, and NYStretch Energy Code.

The architecture firm for the new build is Leers Weinzapfel Associates. Construction services and general contracting are provided by LeChase.
