The Mobile Pollution Lab Detecting Air Quality in Metro Vancouver
PLUME, Portable Laboratory for Understanding Human-Made Emissions, developed by a team of scientists at the University of British Columbia is a mobile lab that can detect air pollutants on the move providing real-time air quality data in Metro Vancouver.
By using a selection of instruments to measure the concentration of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, black carbon, and methane, air quality samples are gathered for data analysis across a broad range of areas, including remote hard-to-reach districts.
A website called Smell Vancouver helps the PLUME team due to the correlation between reported unpleasant smells and poor air quality.
